Training Verification System: Description

The Training Verification System (TVS) aims to be a database system capable of storing apprentice information and training completion, allowing users to verify apprentice training status by scanning a QR code. The QR code can be distributed in print form or digitally.

The application has the following features:

  • A Password-Protected Backend: Provides administrators with a way to create a record for each apprentice by filling up a pre-designed form. Access to the site is restricted only to users who have an account. The records will be updatable, as apprentices complete courses, they can be marked as completed on the apprentice record. We can further customize the form with the information that needs to be captured for each apprentice.
  • New apprentice Record: This feature can be accessed from the top menu and allows the administrator to add a new record.
  • Automatically Generated QR Code: The system automatically generates a QR code based on the apprentice Record ID. The apprentice Record ID can be automatically assigned by the system, or it can be manually entered by the administrator.  The QR code can be downloaded by right-clicking on it and saving it.
  • Apprentice Profile Page: The system automatically generates an apprentice Record ID with a unique URL based on the apprentice Record ID. The system automatically creates an apprentice Profile page (See mockup 1) listing all the apprentices currently in the database.
Next to each record listed on this page, there is an “Edit” link that allows the administrator to access the “Edit apprentice Record” page where updates to the record can be made.
  • Sorting Feature: There is a sorting feature that allows the administrator to sort the list by the field selected in ascending or descending order. Records can be sorted by: Record ID, First Name, Last Name, Local/JATC, City, and State. The list contains the QR Code, Record ID, First Name, Last Name, and other pertinent information. The apprentice Record (see Mockup 2) can be accessed by scanning the corresponding QR code or clicking on the apprentice’s Last Name. Photos for each user can be added to their profiles.
  • Search Feature: The apprentice Profiles page has a search engine that allows the administrator to search by predefined fields (For example, the Record ID, First Name, Last Name, City, State, etc.)
  • Desktop Computer and Mobile Ready: The application uses a responsive design, which allows it to detect the screen size of the device where it is being displayed and automatically adjust its layout. This feature allows the application to properly display on desktop computers or mobile devices.
